Winter news

Whilst some have been enjoying sunny climes  back home it has been typical winter in Ballarat - overcast, cool, rainy and occasionally snow. At least the rivers and creeks are flowing and dams and tanks filling.

Apart from the snow, it has been on the damp side and the greens have been closed. Hopefully we will have some dry weather and can get on the greens for Thursday winter triples (11am start) of Saturday Social (1pm start).

Indoor bowls is being played on Saturday afternoons with a small but lively group (get your names in by noon for a 1pm start). Div4 Tuesday night bowls have qualified for the finals.

The 2nd Superdome series is due to start in august in an expanded format with clubs being able to enter two teams. We will create a power side and a challengers side. List for names is up at the club or contact a selector.

As agreed at the AGM our selectors for the coming season have each been assigned a division to liase with ( Prems - Tony Gutteridge; Div2 - Couter; Div4- Ray Kinna; Div6- David Flintoff; Div8- Neil Sutherland) We are not having a DIV9 but will endeavor to organise a social game for players not playing Pennant rinks availability permitting.

Pennants practice matches has been confirmed for Saturday 17th September at Sebastapol. Cost will be $7 and includes a sausage sizzle. A game against Marysborough is still being negotiated.

Season Opening Dinner will be combined with the opening of the Ronaldson Green and a Pie night prior to the 1st game.

AFL Grand Final is 1st October. The club will be open and the game on the big screen. An early start bowls comp may be held prior to the start of the game.
